Pepijn van Schaik is the person behind Manta Marine Design, a young and enthousiastic design studio for the yacht and shipbuilding industry. After getting his Bachelor degree in 'Naval Architecture' at the university of professional education in Rotterdam, the Netherlands he worked for several renowned Naval Architects and shipyards in the Netherlands and abroad. From 2006 he is working independantly and succesfully in the yacht and shipbuilding industry. In 2006 he founded Triple Marine VOF. Despite a succesful first 3 years of the business, it was decided to stop the cooperation. Since the beginning of 2009 Pepijn is working under the name of Manta Marine Design.

Boatbuilding and Sailing Experience
During and after his naval architecture studies, a lot of building experience has been gained on the shopfloor of a renowned shipyard for steel and aluminum yachts. These days Pepijn is regularly seen on the shopfloor working on his own projects to test and check his own designs for optimization of future builts. As examples he assembled and welded a large portion of the steel hull of the Bornrif and he also joined the building team of the Hanzeyawl.
Besides a lot of nautical miles made privately in the European waters, Pepijn got his Master Commercial Coastal Sailing Vessels degree at the Nautical College in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands and sailed professionally thousands of nautical miles. As Able Seaman on Tallship Bark Europa he sailed around the Atlantic Ocean including two expeditions to Antarctica.

For some highly specialized cases Manta Marine Design will delegate work to third parties who can offer specialized assistance. In case of large projects cooperation with collegues will be arranged for extra capacity.
